Admission information: 45% are taken from ED pool. The applicants need to take two subject tests. They do not recalculate gap. They always look at highest test score. Can send an additional rec. Northwestern supplemental essay is extremely important. Show motivation and why student is a good fit for Northwestern. Only 1% received merit aid — athletes and music majors.
8,000 undergraduates and 8.000 graduate students. Six undergraduate schools — Social science, Arts and science, Education, Journalism, Music and Engineering. Northwestern is on the quarter system. Students take 3-5 courses a quarter. This allows the student to take 8-10 more courses than at most colleges. Half of students are in Arts and Science college. First year seminar with 16 students is capstone. Engineering program is “whole brain engineering”. Student must apply into the Engineering School from beginning. They offer a five-year BA/Master’s in engineering. School of Communication has six majors — It covers areas from performing arts to speech pathology. The Medill School of Journalism is exceptional. It requires a journalism internship junior or senior year. Bienen School of Music offers two different degrees — performance and theatrical. Students must choose one of these. This college offers a five-year program that offers a conservancy-like education.The School of Education and Social Policy offers four different majors — Change agent (human development and psychology), Learning and organization change (Management and business), Social policy and Secondary education.
Northwestern has one of the most beautiful campuses I have ever seen. Much of it faces Lake Michigan. The buildings are gray stone and all fit together. The town of Evanston is perfect as a college town.
