Last fall there was an exciting new relationship created between NY Poly and NYU University. This all began in 2008 when the New York Board of Regents approved the affiliation of Polytechnic and NYU, thus creating Polytechnic Institute of NYU. The program  officially got off and running  fall of 2011 when nine Poly students got to select any open course at NYU that interested them. This relationship between the two institutions could be a drawing card for Poly students. Finally a student can get an engineering degree at a top tier institution and also take advantage of the plethora of courses offered at NYU. Although there are still some logistical problems that need to be solved, such as getting IDs and registering for the NYU classes, it appears that the formation of the Polytechnic Institute of NYU will benefit both universities.
